Essential oils are highly volatile compounds that can be extracted from different parts of aromatic plants. Did you know that of all the plant species on Earth only 1% are aromatic?
Aromatherapy is a science that involves using essential oils via different routes to provide healing and prevent illness. It is a form of alternative therapy that sees the human being as a whole and acts on all fronts: physical, emotional, mental.
No. Very simply put plants can produce 2 types of oils: fixed oils or carrier oils that are greasy and can be applied directly on the skin and essential oils that are highly volatile and cannot be applied neat on the skin.
Carrier oils like coconut, almond, olive, walnut, sesame oil etc are produced from the fatty parts of the plant like seeds, kernel or nut, while essential oils are produced from different parts like leaves, stems, flowers, roots etc. Normally, essential oils are more precious and more expensive than carrier oils.
Essential oils can be absorbed via inhalation, topical application, oral, rectal and vaginal routes. However, we only promoteinhalation and skin aplication since the rest of the methods require the supervision of a physician or clinical aromatherapist. Read more HERE
Essential oils should never be used neat or undiluted on the skin since they are very potent and might sensitize the skin.Daily dilution should not exceed 2% (2 drops essential oil to 1 tbsp carrier oil).
Dilution can vary from 1% to 25% depending on age and ailment. See more details HERE.
The market of essential oils is highly unregulated and a lot of suppliers/sellers take advantage of that making unrealistic claims about the purity or therapeutic grade of the oils. Some oils are sold as essential oil but are in fact just synthetic oils that can have serious negative effects on hormonal production.
We are testing our oils with an independent lab using GC-FID method and several other parameters. We are sharing the reports with you to ensure full transparency and to show you our oils are genuine. Also the chemistry of the oils can vary from a batch to another so understanding the chemical composition helps us give recommendation or make efficient blends.
Absolutely, but with prior dilution.
Definitely, they can! And we advocate strongly for every member of the family to benefit from the power of essential oils. However, it's important to adapt dilution according to age and ailment so please read carefully the "Safety & Dilution" section of each oil where contraindications are mentioned (if any). Some oils are not safe for very young kids so to guide you better we created "Safe for Kids" collection.
Essential oils should not be used on pets generally. However, we can diffuse the oils near pets, but leave the door open for the animals to leave the room in case of discomfort.
Normally essential oils do not expire, but they can get oxidized due to light, heat or oxygen exposure. When oxidized their therapeutic grade decreases and they can trigger rashes. Best is to only use for cleaning purposes post the recommended "Shelf life".
First let's tackle the purity aspect. Our oils are 100% pure and non-adulterated. We know this for sure because we test every batch using GC-FID method and several other parameters. We take this very seriously because we would never want you or your family to use something that is not natural and healthy. The oils we sell on ur shop are the same oils that we use for ourselves and our family:)
Regarding the therapeutic aspect, any oil that is 100% pure is therapeutic. To give you a simple example, Lemon with 75% d-Limonene( main component in Lemon) has more antimicrobial and antioxidant effect that Lemon with 60% d-Limonene. However, this is not something we have control over. Different batches can have slightly different chemical composition depending on the season, climate, extraction so many times it's up to Mother Earth, not us:)
